Director General Of Education urges School Authorities to Report Any CrimInal Acts of students to the Ghana Police Service

Most Final year (form 3) students of Junior and Senior High Schools are known to be truant (thus not attending school or classes) after they go through all the BECE/WASSCE Registration Process.

This has therefore drawn the attention of the management of the Ghana Education Service and classified it is an act the GES considers a major misconduct by students.

According to GES in a statement dated June 9, 2022 and issued by the Director General of Education, Professor Akwasi Opoku Amankwa, reports reaching them indicates that, some of the truant students engage themselves in undesirable acts such as dealing in drugs, using of mobile phones, bullying, wearing of unprescribed attire on campuses and blatant disregard for school rules and regulations.

The management again said students and parents should be made to understand by authorities that sanctions like deboardinization, writing the examination under police/parent escort and WAEC not admitting them to examination centres to write the papers.

The Management of GES is therefore urging all school authorities to report any criminal acts of students to the Ghana Police Service for investigations and subsequent prosecution.
