|SANKORE| Fire guts Maame U's Sawmill

Fire has gutted parts of one popular sawmill in Sankore in the Ahafo Region which is owned by Maame U.

The fire reportedly started around 10 am on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, according to an eyewitness who spoke to Hitnewsgh.com.

By 1:20 pm, the fire had gone out of control and the owner of the Sawmill ran to the nearby fire station to request help.

Fire service personnel reportedly got to the fire station at around 4 pm.

The firefighters together with the area boys and some workers of the sawmill are currently on the ground to help douse the fire that has so far destroyed many goods including some logs belonging to the owner of the sawmill, light poles and electric wires connecting to one Church, Jerusalem Miracle Prayer Ministry, opposite to the above mentioned sawmill which has resulted in light cutouts in the area.

They have stopped the blaze from spreading and are still trying to quench the blaze but personnel from GNFS have ran out of Water.

It remains unclear what may have started the fire.

Some security personnel known to be from the Sankore Police Post have also joined the firefighters in combating the situation.
