School heads fight GES over GHS60 curriculum training fee

Headteachers in the Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region are up in arms with the Ghana Education Service (GES) over the latter’s decision to charge each headteacher GHS60 for training with regard to the new English curriculum.
The GES, on 2 January 2020, issued the directive to all headteachers of both public and private basic schools for a “walk-through” exercise on the New English curriculum.

But some headteachers and teachers have vehemently kicked against the move by the GES, asking why they have to pay for a capacity-building exercise initiated by the GES.

The exercise, which is for headteachers and KG 1-B6 teachers, will start on Tuesday, 14 January 2020 in Adeiso for three Circuits, and end on 23 January 2020 at Asuokaw for the last batch teachers.
